What does beta reading involve?
The beta reading process varies by writer, but here in an overview of my process for novels:
- I send a few chapters.
- After reading, you answer a few questions about what you thought.
- If you wish to continue, I send the rest of the manuscript.
- A few chapters will have links to surveys. Please fill each out before reading ahead.
- You can leave comments on the Google Doc as you read if you like. Please give honest feedback, even if you think it’s negative. If you think something is bad that’s good for me to know!
- If you decide not to finish the novel, please leave a comment on the document where you read to and give a brief reason.
What’s in it for you?
Aside from getting a free story to read, if you complete all surveys and finish the story within 3 months (1 month for shorts):
- Your name and social links will be added to the Book of Heroes on this website.
- Your name and social links will be periodically mentioned on my social media (mainly Twitter).
- If a novel is published in print, I will do my best to get you a signed copy, but at this point I can’t say for sure that will be possible.
